PAINTING in Acrylic - 6 weeks, MONDAYS, 5:30- 8:15pm, July 15th – Aug. 19th

$185.00

This course is open to beginners and those with experience who want to reconnect with their practice.

This study takes an expressive approach to painting, investigating the nature of color, line, shape, texture, light and shadow to create unified, balanced compositions.

We’ll work from observation and photo reference in order to strengthen our understanding of overall design. We will address color mixing, paint application and approaches. Basic preliminary sketches using drawing tools will be part of the process.

Suggested Materials: The most affordable brand is Grumbacher Academy or Windsor Newton Galeria Acrylic Paint. Liquitex Heavy Body Acrylics are very good, if you’re interested. You can mix brands.

Paint: (sm. 2 oz. tubes): cadmium red med., alizarin crimson, pthalo blue (green shade), ultramarine, cadmium yellow med, lemon yellow or cadmium yellow pale hue (any light yellow will do), mars black, titanium white (big tube).

The more cost-efficient cadmiums and crimson could be labeled “hue”.

**For Pthalo Blue, get Liquitex.

Brushes: individually or in a set (synthetic). Large, medium & small flat and round.

*Palette paper pad, 9x12” (This is where we mix the paint)

Painting Surface: watercolor pad (140lb or more) 9x12” or larger.

Pre-stretched canvas and any other surfaces you might want to use are welcome.

A small sketchbook is needed.

*If you’re ever late, it happens, you’ll have to text or call when you arrive. Front doors to the building are locked after 6pm. (603) 216-4125
